Geopolitical responses to rare earth and critical mineral monopolies
Join the Sydney Branch for their June tech talk: Geopolitical responses to rare earth and critical mineral monopolies with speaker Dr John Coyne, Head of the Northern Australia Strategic Policy Centre and Head of the Strategic Policing and Law Enforcement at ASPI.
About this event
The global markets for rare-earth elements and critical minerals are shaping to be the next economic hot zone, with China currently dominating the global rare-earth and critical mineral value chain.
In April, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute hosted the inaugural Darwin Dialogue, bringing together leaders and key players from Australia, Japan and the United States to discuss critical mineral production and supply-chain security.
In this presentation, Dr John Coyne will comment on the Darwin Dialogue and argue that now is the time for ‘minilateralism’ to take centre stage. In doing so, he will discuss how Australia has an opportunity to provide the kind of leadership that will see Japan, Canada, the US, and others create new mines, new midstream processing and new manufacturing of rare earths and critical minerals.
Very topical with current uncertainties in an ever changing geopolitical environment - an evening not to be missed.
