This presentation by Andrew Newell - Manager, Metallurgy & Process Engineering; SLR Consulting, will focus on critical minerals used in battery technologies, including lithium, graphite, cobalt, nickel, and vanadium.

The talk will also provide an overview of batteries and trends in battery products as well as reviewing the extraction of and the preparation of these materials for use in batteries.

Andrew is a Metallurgical Engineer with over 45 years of experience in operating, managerial, technical, research, development, commercialisation and consulting roles in the processing of a wide range of commodities.

This experience is in the fields of mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, and process engineering over the last five years, has included a strong focus on critical minerals and the production of high-purity products required for batteries and other applications.

Andrew is also a valued and longstanding member of the AusIMM Southern Queensland Branch Committee.
