October tech talk: Road and rail tunnels that crisscross our cities – Exploring the crossover with underground mining development
Join the Sydney Branch for their October tech talk: Road and rail tunnels that crisscross our cities – Exploring the crossover with underground mining development.
About this event
For the past decade, Australia has had a love affair with civil infrastructure tunnels. Road and rail tunnels crisscross our cities.
Unsurprisingly, the performance criteria for tunnels are much tighter than those typically specified for mining. This leads to tunnel designs which tend to be more detailed and more critiqued than usually found in mining. Given that, it may surprise some to learn that several mining solutions have been introduced as innovations to tunnelling. The crossover between the two fields offers great opportunities to both.
Our speaker, Dr Robert Bertuzzi’s engaging presentation will explore this crossover theme using his 30 years’ experience in the two overlapping industries.
This event is free for all Students, and they are encouraged to attend.
