Workshop Overview

This workshop allowed professionals the time to reflect on their purpose, personal strengths, listening and decision making skills. This will leave participants with a solid grounding in the strengths they can leverage to be even better leaders, and find opportunities for personal improvement.  An action plan for each participant will result from the workshop.

This workshop is for all professionals who are emerging or current leaders of minerals businesses.

Melanie McCarthy FAusIMM(CP) EngExec, Founder, Leading for Success

Melanie McCarthy has held executive leadership positions in international public listed companies, is a Non-Executive director and has held operational leadership positions in the resources industry.

She was the first woman awarded the First-Class Underground Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency in South Australia and was awarded the Exceptional Woman in Australian Resources in 2018.  She worked as an underground mine manager for over a decade and was General Manager of a regionally based mining operation in Australia where relationships with community, people and with Chinese customers were crucial to the operations success.

Over her twenty years in the resources industry, she learnt first-hand how to support frontline supervisors, senior leaders and executives on their journey to be exceptional leaders for their industry and community.   She is now a professional mentor supporting technical people throughout the world become exceptional leaders.

 

Karissa Cameron, Founder, Lead with Purpose

Karissa Cameron has over 15 years’ experience in the mining industry Karissa has worked in underground and open cut mining as well as exploration covering Queensland, Northern Territory and Victoria.

Throughout her career Karissa has been passionate about developing others and seeing them succeed.  Whilst in a Superintendent and Mining Manager role Karissa saw first-hand, through the implementation of her Supervisor development program, the importance of developing front line leaders and the flow on benefits to the workforce and management level.

Through her operational experience Karissa understands the needs of frontline leaders and the importance of investing in personnel in these roles to ensure individuals can reach their full potential.
