Heidi is an inspiring and pioneering STEM role model. Her career has taken her from the Arctic to the Outback and in 2019, selected as one of 100 women in STEM globally to join Homeward Bound, she participated in the world’s largest all-women expedition to Antarctica. 

Heidi is the founder and principal applied geochemist at Elemental Insight, a boutique consultancy where she leverages 20+ years in industry, academic and consulting roles. Combining her expertise in ore deposit formation, analytical thinking, and curiosity she helps mineral exploration-, mining- and technology companies transform data into practical knowledge.

Prior to establishing her consulting business, Heidi was the Chief Geochemist at a major mining company, one of two women to have achieved this industry role globally.

Heidi is also a director of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, a not for profit professional organisation, run by members for members, which aims to advance the skills, status and public perception of more than 3,500 members both within Australia and overseas. Here she leads their inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team.

As a woman in STEM Heidi embraces challenging the status quo and changemaking to create positive social impact for all. Her main vehicles for courage and inspiration are her roles in Women in Mining WA (WIMWA) and Women in Technology WA (WiTWA). During Dr. Pass’ tenure on the WiTWA Central Committee, which operates as the governing body, she led the development of the WiTWA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Corporate Member program from its inception. This program supports organizations, in particular their leaders, in addressing the under-representation of women in the technology sector.
