Started her career as a Graduate Geophysicist with BHP in 1997, where she worked in BHP Minerals Exploration exploring for base metals in various parts of the world. She then worked with BHP Technology and was part of the Falcon Team that started the world's first Airborne Gravity Gradiometer surveys as a geological mapping tool. Since 2006, Asmita has been working with WAIO (Iron Ore) leading technical teams, establishing technical standards, data quality standards and processes and implementing technologies to uplift productivity and unlocking resource value. A notable achievement for her and her team during this period is implementing the Downhole Assay Tool in WAIO Geoscience in both strategic and grade control space. Asmita’ s passion lies in leading teams of technical specialists, R&D strategy, innovation pipeline generation and data strategy for orebody characterisation. She is also passionate about building team and process capabilities and gender diversity for Geoscience in the future.
