Professor Deqing Zhu
Professor, School of Minerals Processing and Bioengineering, Director of Low carbon and Hydrogen Metallurgy Centre, Central South University
Deqing Zhu is a tenured professor of School of Minerals Processing and Bioengineering, and director of Low carbon and Hydrogen Metallurgy Centre, Central South University, members of TMS and AusIMM, Outside Expert of BaoSteel Group, Expert of Direct Reduction Iron Working Committee of National Scrap Associate, Member of Technology Standard Branch of National Natural Resources and Land Space Committee.
He was born on Oct.15, 1964 in Hunan PRC. He graduated from Central South University of Technology, PRC and Bachelor Degree in Mineral Processing was granted in 1986. Then he was grandted Master Degree in Mineral Processing Engineering in Central South University of Technology, Changsha, Hunan PRC in 1989. Then he worked with Jiangxi Dexin Copper Mine for two years from 1989-1991. He was granted PhD degree in Mineral Engineering in Central South University of Technology, Changsha, Hunan, PRC in 1994. He has been worked with Central South University in minerals processing and ferrous metallurgy since November 1994. He was promoted to professor in 2001. He worked as a visiting scientist with CSIRO in QCA Birsbane Australia in 2002-2003.
He has been awarded two Secondary Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress and Innovation in Direct Reduction and Pelletising of iron ores, eleven First and Scondary Prizes of Provincial Science and Technology Progress and Innovation in Direct Reduction, Pelletising of iron ores and Utilization of complicated resources. He has also been awarded many prizes in education and teaching, such as Excellence in Textbook Writing, by the Press of Central South District, for the book-“Principle and Technology of Sintering and Pelletizing”, Outstanding Young Teacher- for Excellent Teaching and Research- by the Ministry of Education, the P. R. China, Outstanding Teacher-by the Educational Committee of Baoshan Iron & Steel Group Ltd, the P. R .China. Totally over 50 patents have been granted for his research group in sintering, pelletising and direct reduction of iron ores, vanadium bearing titanomagnetite, nickel laterite, chromite, manganese ores, solid waste and slag of steel plant and nonferrous smelting.
So far he has over 100 papers, three mongraphs and one textbook published, and the later two are listed as follows:
