Dr Geraldine McGuire

Dr Geraldine McGuire is the Manager Environment & Community for 29Metals, Capricorn Copper Mine in NW Queensland. She has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry and has worked across Australia, Asia and the Pacific on transformative resource projects. Geraldine has a Science Degree with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland and a PhD in Science from the University of Western Australia. She is a Fellow of the AusIMM and the Chair of the AusIMM FNQ Branch. In 2024, she was the inaugural recipient of the AusIMM Social and Environment Committee Award.
Geraldine has worked on the closure of projects, as well as the commencement of large resource projects and brings a wealth of practical, lived experience to her roles in ESG. She believes that sound environmental management and empowerment of community stakeholders can be achieved through transparent and ethical project governance.

Carla Martinez

Carla Martinez is a Social Performance Executive at WSP Australia. Her expertise is social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement and social investment in energy and resource projects across Australia and Chile. Carla holds an Advanced Master of Development Practice from The University of Queensland and is an AusIMM social performance chartered professional. Carla is also an Industry Fellow at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining from the University of Queensland and a Certified social impact specialist by the Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand. Before joining WSP, Carla worked in stakeholder and community engagement in copper and coal industry in remote locations with Indigenous communities
