Committee Member

Chenming Zhang

Research Fellow, University of Queensland

Chenming is a research fellow at the University of Queensland. His work encompases:

  • Designing and developing field and laboratory methods to assess desiccation depth and desiccation efficiency in tailings storage facilities under weather conditions
  • Analysing salt uptake from tailings into cover systems
  • Designing environmental sensors to monitor soil (moisture, suction, temperature and salinity), water (pressure, salinity), structure (inclination, distance and acceleration) and weather conditions
  • Developing online monitoring system for in-situ, continuous and real time monitoring of surface tailings, phreatic surface and weather conditions in tailings storage facilities
  • Development of numerical code to simulate evaporation-induced transport of water, vapour, salt and heat in tailings
  • Development of mathematical model to simulate acid mine drainage processes

He also has his own YouTube channel on project updates here.
