What innovations or approaches is SRK currently bringing to mineral resource estimation?

SRK brings its broad experience and worldwide network of consultants to Mineral Resource estimation by working with traditional and cutting-edge techniques and approaches. For example, we are currently evaluating new software tools typically used for the oil and gas industry for the applicability to stratigraphic modelling and simulation as applied to the minerals sector.

What are some of the key trends or challenges you’re seeing in mineral resource estimation?

More and more Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence / Neural Network driven tools for all aspects of the geological modelling, Mineral Resource estimation and classification are being created every day. Although some are very promising, at this stage they complement the traditional methods but haven’t proven to be superior. 

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s MREC, in particular what can we expect to see from SRK?

I'm very much looking forward to hearing from the superb range of very experienced and respected Keynote speakers this year. SRK and myself has been heavily involved in running and judging the Parker Challenge and I will be presenting some of the results in the final session of the conference.
