Daniel Howe
At the helm of the 2026 conference is chairperson Daniel Howe, a seasoned mining geologist with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. His journey into geology began almost by chance, but quickly transformed into a lifelong passion driven by a relentless desire to understand more.
“I didn’t even know what geology was when I started university,” Howe told Mining. “But once I fell in love with the science, my questions only multiplied.”
Howe’s enthusiasm mirrors that of the broader geological community, and he sees the conference as an essential forum where this collective drive for knowledge can be supported and expanded.
“It’s an opportunity for mining geologists from diverse backgrounds to come together, exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences,” he said.
