Golden Mile Field Trip – KCGM Open Pit, Underground and Processing Plant tour
The Golden Mile, known once as the richest square mile on earth has mined over 60Moz of gold over the last 130 years.
Starting and finishing in Perth, the day trip will include a geology overview presentation, and a visit to not only the Fimiston “Superpit” and Mt Charlotte Underground, but also provide an overview and tour of the mill expansion that is currently underway.

Tour schedule
Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The day tour starts and ends at Perth Airport.
- 07:00 Flight departure from Perth to Kalgoorlie
- 08:30 Pick up Kalgoorlie Airport
- 09:00 KCGM Operations (Kalgoorlie Super Pit)
- 15:45 Departure from KCGM Operations (Kalgoorlie Super Pit)
- 16:00 Stop at Mount Charlotte
- 16:15/30 Depart Mount Charlotte
- 16:45-18:15 Explore town centre
- 18:30 Drop off at Kalgoorlie Airport
- 19:55 Departure from Kalgoorlie to Perth Airport where tour concludes.
All visitors must complete and return to Emma Murray-Hayden a site access form at least 14 days prior to visit and complete an on-line induction at least 48 hours prior to the event or site access will not be granted. All visitors will be required to undertake a breathalyser test and must return a BAC of 0.00 prior to access on the morning of the tour when they arrive.
Tour participants must be registered to attend the International Mining Geology 2024 Conference.
