Emerging critical minerals

Critical minerals are essential ingredients for modern life, driving global development, technological innovation and social and economic advancement worldwide.

The ‘critical’ nature of commodities such as lithium, nickel and cobalt is punctuated by geological scarcity, a dynamic geopolitical landscape, complex global markets, and a fragile global supply chain.

The opportunity for the Australasian resources sector to move up the critical minerals supply chain therefore offers substantial dividends for our economy, community and national security.

But the global critical minerals landscape moves fast, and time is of the essence.

The fourth session of the 2021 Series will look to the challenges, opportunities and critical factors that will allow our sector to play an expanded role across the global minerals value chain.
