Course structure

This on-demand, self-paced course is delivered via a series of videos, supported by a number of written resources. A range of activities is included to apply your learning as you work your way through the course. These activities include a combination of multiple-choice and short answer type questions. There are also a number of optional videos and resources you can choose to view to enhance your knowledge of the JORC Code.

We recommend allowing around 10 hours to complete the course, but you will have access to the platform for six months.

René has undertaken geological projects in many countries in Africa, Australasia and Europe and has experience with a wide variety of geological settings and commodities. René specialises in resource development, QA/QC and successful sampling, and has a strong skill set in resource modelling, grade control, and reconciliation. He has led numerous exploration and mine geology teams across the globe and has consulted to a range of companies, from junior explorers to large international mining houses. René is the principal author of many Canadian NI 43-101 and JORC Code compliant resource and exploration studies and has assisted clients with exploration programmes for these and other projects. He holds a Master’s degree in Structural Geology and Tectonics. Rene is a Chartered Professional and a Fellow with the AusIMM and has published papers, instructional videos, and provided training on sampling, QAQC, and resource estimation.

The course covers some very specific details of Code, which I found exceptionally useful for my job.

The course will be run entirely online via a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) which can be accessed via computer, tablet or phone. Participants will simply need to have a working Internet connection and a computer, tablet or phone with sound to access the course.

The course is self-paced but we recommend allowing around three weeks (one week per module) to complete. It is expected that participants will take about 10 hours to complete the course.

You will have access to the course content for six months.

As the course is run on-demand you may choose to sign up at any time.

Unfortunately no, the course must be completed in its entirety.

Participants can earn professional development (PD) hours for undertaking the course. One contact hour of technical content is equivalent to one PD hour.
