His duties included planning future mine production, guiding development and mining operations, and monitoring mineral quality to ensure compliance with standards. Additionally, he managed various general administrative tasks, such as liaising and negotiating with federal and state departments, investors, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Fred stands out as one of the few Sabahans with extensive hands-on experience in the mining industry. In 2011, he transitioned from the oil and gas sector to embrace new challenges and embark on a rewarding journey in mining. Beginning as a site geologist specialising in coal exploration and mining operations, Fred honed his skills and expertise over the years. Throughout his career, he has held various pivotal roles within the industry, including positions as a drilling and mining service provider, mining consultant, and mine owner.
