AusIMM is seeking an experienced and committed member to join the Investment Committee. This is a critical governance role that supports AusIMM’s long-term financial sustainability and strategic objectives.

Purpose of the role

The Investment Committee plays a vital role in safeguarding AusIMM’s reserves and ensuring prudent investment decisions that align with our mission and values. The committee provides oversight and guidance on investment strategy, risk management, and ethical standards.

Why this role matters

Our reserves are the cornerstone of AusIMM’s financial resilience and ability to deliver value to members, even during periods of financial uncertainty. By joining the Investment Committee, you will help shape strategies that protect these reserves and earn suitable returns, ensuring AusIMM remains strong and sustainable for future generations.

Skills and experience required

  • Strategic Understanding of Reserves – Ability to respect and uphold the purpose, structure, and strategic importance of reserves in maintaining AusIMM’s long-term sustainability, particularly during financial shocks or downturns.
  • ESG and Ethical Investment Knowledge – Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and ethical investment screening.
  • Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management Expertise – Strong knowledge of asset allocation, fund manager selection, and investment strategy development.
  • Risk Assessment and Management Skills – Aptitude to identify, assess, and manage financial and operational risks effectively.
  • Analytical Capability – Ability to interpret investment performance reports and benchmark comparisons.
  • Governance and Compliance Awareness – Understanding of fiduciary duties, investment regulations, and ethical standards.

Commitment

Committee members are expected to actively prepare and participate in scheduled meetings, review reports, and contribute to strategic discussions that shape AusIMM’s investment approach.  There are generally 3 meetings per annum of approximately 1.5 hours each, currently scheduled in 2026 for April,  August and November.
