Geology communicators and influencers

A geology communicator is someone who shares geological knowledge with others through verbal and non-verbal methods. Science communication is used as an umbrella term to cover all aspects of outreach, public engagement, widening participation, knowledge exchange, and any other initiatives within the scope of the journal. It can be thought of as any initiative which seeks to communicate an aspect of geoscience to a wider audience than the experts within that particular field.

These include the well-known Australians Dr Haydon Mort, Richard Lilly, Jessica Keast, Nick Tate, and Maria Vittoria. Other international influencers include; Molly Turko, Luisa Hendry, Cate Larsen, Luisa Hendry, Michaela J Dobson, Saskia Elliott, Ethan Penner, Karin Kirk and Becky Nesel.

Geoscientists working in Universities, Schools and other educational establishments have an enormous influence on students and are important for the future of the science. Geoscientists also conduct research within Government organisations, Research Councils or Museums, and play a vital role in communicating science to the general public or decision makers.
