The AusIMM collaborates with a number of like-minded institutions both in Australia and overseas. The AusIMM Geoscience Society extends a warm congratulations to the newly elected AIG president Jason Keys and new board members for the 2025- 2026 period.

The Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) is a leading professional institute representing geoscientists employed in all sectors of industry, education, research and government throughout Australia. AIG is a not-for-profit organisation, run by members for members, which aims to advance the skills, status and public perception of members both within Australia and overseas. https://www.aig.org.au/about-aig/about/

New Directors

  • Jason Keys; Graduate in geology, law and business management. Has over 30 years in executive positions in the exploration and mining industry. Now owns and operates a geological consulting company.
  • Chris Cairns; Graduate in economic geology, with a background as Fellow of the AusIMM and JORC representative. In seeking director position in the AIG, Chris hopes to speak up for those in the industry that can-not be heard. Some 30 years in the geological industry, and now managing director of Stavely Minerals.
  • Chris Dickinson; Graduate in geology and hydrogeology with some 30 years in the geological & hydrogeology industries. Chris’s affiliations include FAIG, MIAH & RPgeo. Now director & principal hydrologist at Ground & Water Australia PL
  • Dale Sims; Graduate in geology & mining geomechanics with 40 years industrial experience. Dale is a past director of the AusIMM and past president director of the AIG. Dale is now self-employed as Dale Sims Consulting.
  • Nishka Piechocka; Graduate in geology (PhD) and law with nearly 20 years in industry (geology & geometallurgy) and research (7 publications)
  • Roderick Carlson; Graduate in geology with over 30 years in exploration and mining geology. Now with AMC Consulting. AusIMM member (S Qld), holding AusIMM professional training certificates in JORC plus diversity & inclusions, and holding various volunteer positions with AIG.
  • Tony Webster; Graduate with Ph.D. in geology, and several other studies, including mining, archaeology, education etc, and has published two books. Has some 40 years’ experience in and about the exploration & mining industries. Now a principal structural geologist with Geodiscovery Group.
  • Wendy Beets; graduate in geology, geography with 30 years varied experience associated with the exploration industry. Holds various licences, was an associate member of the AusIMM till 2024, and was a vice president of the AIG in 2019-2020. Now the business development manager at Fugro.
