Commodities Outlook in 2020

At the start of a new decade we find our industry seemingly at the mercy of a global pandemic. 

In light of this, what is the global outlook for commodities in 2020, how will the Australian resources sector be affected, what will be the short term and perhaps the longer-term effects be and what will be the effect on the Australian economy. What are our options in 2020?

Panelists:

Paul McTaggart, Director, Pan-Asia Metals & Mining, Citi Research

Paul has 23 years’ experience in both Australia and the UK, running global mining and commodities research teams for major global investment banks. Paul also worked for a number of years as a corporate advisor to major mining companies and, early in his career, as an engineer with BHP Limited.

Paul holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical) and masters’ degrees in Business Administration and Applied Finance.

Viktor Tanevski, Principal Coal Analyst Wood MacKenzie

Viktor Tanevski joined Wood Mackenzie in 2011 as an analyst in the coal research team focusing on Australia, South-East Asia and Southern Africa. He is currently based in Sydney. Viktor undertakes detailed analysis of coal mining assets, including production modelling, cost estimation and valuations.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Viktor worked in RBC’s Sydney Mining & Metals investment banking team undertaking Australian and cross-border M&A advisory and corporate financing transactions and valuations for projects and companies.

Viktor has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Sydney.
