AusIMM has today announced an expansion of its existing partnership with BHP, providing further possibilities for the organisations to collaborate on professional development for the benefit of all resources professionals.

As a member-based, not-for-profit peak body leading the way for people in resources, one of AusIMM’s key activities is developing and delivering internationally renowned technical mining conferences in partnership with resource sector leaders committed to best practice.

Building on these shared values of ongoing education and upholding best practice, the strengthened relationship sees BHP extending their support as Major Sponsor for an additional nine AusIMM mining conferences until 2025.

AusIMM will leverage BHP’s global team of thought leaders to provide world-leading technical expertise and support for the conference program.

In addition, the partnership will help BHP support the next generation of mining professionals through AusIMM student memberships for sixty eligible young student interns. This will equip the next generation of resources professionals with the skills and tools needed to be future leaders.

AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin said, “The partnership extension reaffirms our commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for professional development and knowledge sharing, both to AusIMM members and industry professionals all around the world.

“Building strong relationships with globally-renowned partners like BHP helps us to access and share the latest technical advancements and innovations with our global community of professionals. It is these professionals who are shaping the future of our industry, helping us meet growing global demand for the metals and minerals needed for modern, sustainable societies.”
