Lessons learned are illustrated with examples from the author's experience. Lessons include the place of the preliminary feasibility study, credibility, ore reserves, the use of expert consultants, responsibilities and challenges for the owner's representative, technical tools for the study manager, the human side of project organisation and dealing with technical auditors.
