Computers - Overcoming the Phobia: Understanding Resources - Effective Mine Planning - Increased Profit
Modern computers and software provide powerful tools for
the geologist to construct reliable models of geological resources, and the
mining engineer to produce accurate and workable mine plans. Over the years many
people have developed a phobia of computers, especially for geological analysis,
modelling and mine planning. This phobia is often caused by a lack of knowledge,
poor training or a bad experience.
The adoption however of computers for geological
modelling and mine planning is now becoming mainstream. With the correct
training, a good understanding of input data, and detailed knowledge of the
required results, the phobia can safely be overcome to provide mining operations
with increased productivity.
