Case studies for integrating rehabilitation planning with mine planning in strip mining

Final landform planning in Deswik software was used to determine if integration into the mine plans could achieve better closure outcomes. Using the dump surface outputs from the Deswik Landform and Haulage Simulation (LHS) and the Reshape Landform tool, the project intended to:1. Review costs to achieve the final landform for several grade criteria scenarios;2. Quantify reshape volumes at several stages of the mines development with the objective to contribute to margin ranking inputs; and3. Identify rehabilitation cost reduction measures such as backfilling ramps and pits.CITATION:Neilsen, I, Walker, A and Hooper, A, 2018.
