Seventh Underground Operators' Conference
This volume comprises papers presented at the 7th
Underground Operators' Conference. The theme of the conference was 'Remote Area
Mining', with a back-to-basics review of practices from the underground
operators' viewpoint. Remote area mining is not new to the Australian mining
community, but the advent of the ubiquitous fly-in, fly-out operation has
resulted in new challenges for the community at large. The volume covers
numerous aspects of mining operations: Mine start-up, Recruiting, Equipment,
Safety, Operations, Small Mines and Contracting.
