It is a great privilege to be invited to give this address at this
centenary conference. A centenary is a time for recollection, for
celebration and for looking ahead. The AusIMM has much to
celebrate and many things to recall. I hope in this address to make
some useful comments about Australia's future (and mindful of
but not forgetting New Zealand), looking ahead for 25 years or
so, and the mining industry's role in that future.
