The silver lead ore zones of the Umberumberka lode
THE Umberumberka mine, the only active mine for miles round it, is in the municipality of Silverton, N.S.W., and was the first silver mine in the Barrier Ranges formed into a company, first to pay dividends, and worked uninterruptedly ever silice. Thes'eproperties were M.C.Ps., and in clue time made into a freehold. The main lode runs through these blocks in a N.E. and S.W. direction on an average, and with a. dip to the S.E. nearly 60 degrees from the horizon. Along its strike the lode varies, but not considerably from its average course, and then only for short distances; to deal with the lode fully as known and worked would require considerable space and many illustrations. This paper will therefore only deal with the ore locale, some special characters, their relations and importance in valuing the district, and zonal arrangement of the ore, which latter I apply in lieu of a more fitting technical designation, which may be applied when in a subsequent parer dealing with the geology and the containing rocks' influence on the ore deposits of the lode.
