THE importance of the occurrence of a rich telluride of gold on the Kalgoorlie goldfields cannot be too highly emphasized. It must be of the greatest interest to scientific mining men and it is with the object of placing a few facts before them that this paper is written. In this paper mention is only made of mines upon the Kalgoorlie goldfield in which telluride of gold occurs or is likely to occur. Telluride of gold and especially in the form in which it is found upon this field is very rare, and its occurrence upon the Kalgoorlie goldfield is of the greatest importance and determines beyond doubt the permanence and wonderful richness of the gold supply.The author, and discoverer of telluride of gold in Kalgoorlie, recognised the importance of the discovery and immediately made it public. The first mine in which telluride of gold was found in Western Australia was the Block 45, Lease No. 45 in the East Coolgardie goldfield.
