The geology of Kalgoorlie (Western Australia), with special reference to the ore-deposits
KALGOORLIE ranks amongst the greatest mining fields in the world, and has long been famed for its wonderful sulpho-telluride deposits. Even to-day Kalgoorlie produces nearly half the annual output of gold for Western Australia, and this is greater than the total output of gold for the rest of Australia. It is doubted whether any other portion of the British Empire more forcibly exemplifies the nation-building forces of metalliferous mining than Western Australia. This work is divided into ten Chapters and an Appendix-I.-General II.-Geology III.-Mode of Occurrence and Principal Types of Ore-deposits IV.-Mineralogy: The Most Important Minerals, and their Mode of Occurrence: V.-Different Classes of Ore on the "Golden Mile," with an Account of their Most Important Microscopic Characters I.-Genesis of the Ore-deposits VII.-Processes of Alteration VIII.-Faulting IX.-Prospecting X.-Classification of Ore-deposits, Deductions, and Conclusion.
