Supervisory Control of Bass Strait Oil and Gas Production
Esso-BHP have installed a production supervisory control system that is presently controlling the offshore oil and gas facilities on the Barracouta and Marlin platforms from an onshore master station. This control is achieved with a computerized master station onshore which uses a UHF radio system for telemetry and control. The system is designed to control, monitor, and gather data from a large number of oil and gas production platforms and has flexibility to handle future variations in operating conditions. The system will be extended to the Halibut platform late in 1970 and to the Kirlgfish platforms during 1971.
