The Development and Operation of an Indonesian Open Pit Coal Mine
This paper presents an overview of the development and operation of the PT Adaro Indonesia coal mining project. This operation is an initial two million tonne per annum mine, located in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The paper places emphasis on some of the more unique infrastructure development and operational challenges that exist in such a remote location environment.
A brief summary is also given of the Indonesian coal industry, its direction and position as a significant coal producing competitor for Australia.
