Spotlighting Katya Orlova
Katya Orlova SAusIMM is an Economic Geology Honours student whose passion for the resources sector was sparked through studying ore deposits and strengthened through field experiences, research and industry placements. Currently completing research into rare earth element and niobium deposits, she is preparing to begin her career as an exploration geologist in New South Wales.
AusIMM has been a significant part of Katya's university experience, providing opportunities to build her professional network, develop technical knowledge and engage with the broader resources community. As President of the AusIMM Canberra Student Chapter, she has helped create meaningful industry connections and development opportunities for fellow students through events, site visits and participation in the New Leaders Summit and APAC Mining Games.
