· 300 words, 3 minute read
We spoke with Leigh Slomp, Conference Organising Committee member and Chief Advisor, Professional Standards at AusIMM to get some tips on submitting a strong abstract for the Critical Minerals Conference 2023. Here’s what he had to say.

Why submit an abstract for the Critical Minerals Conference 2023?

It’s an incredible opportunity to speak in front of industry leaders and showcase your work to an international audience.  Also, with some high profile, globally recognised keynote speakers, this is great chance to have your name and place alongside them as part of a thought provoking and future focussed program.

What could speaking at the Critical Minerals Conference do to boost your career?

Speaking at this conference will elevate your profile in this increasingly important area and grow your credibility as an important voice in the industry.  With such growth and interest in this space, what could boost your career more than speaking at such a large and internationally focussed event.

What is the Conference Organising Committee looking for in an abstract?

We are looking for thought leaders who can talk to the great work that is being done, or needs to be done, to accelerate the profile and development of critical minerals projects, their role in a safe and sustainable resources sector, and their criticality to the energy transition and wider society.

Do you have any advice for those submitting an abstract?

Whether you are a technical expert, industry strategist or mining executive, there are a wide range of key themes covered in the conference.  Make your abstract topical, engaging and to the point, we want to stimulate the important conversations that will shape the critical minerals sector for years to come!
