AusIMM Hunter Region Branch committee 2023

Your committee held its annual planning day in Newcastle on Saturday 24 September with Student Chapter representation. A program of AusIMM Hunter Region events for 2023 has been planned.

The flagship annual events of Jameson lecture and Armidale tech talk will continue in 2023.

Two committee members represented our Branch at this year’s AusIMM Congress in Melbourne.

In addition to tech talks and site visits for 2023, the meeting put forward for further investigation, the following.

• Revitalising the Newcastle Uni Student Chapter after COVID disruption
• Establishment of a Student Chapter at UNE Armidale
• Establishment of a student bursary for an Honours geology student at UNE
• Possible change of name of the branch to Hunter New England Branch
