AusIMM Melbourne Student Chapter - Student Journal : Semester 1 in Review

The Melbourne Student Chapter has grown a lot in Semester 1!

We have five new and supportive industry sponsors that we're so excited to be partnered with - Melbourne Mining Club, Gekko Systems, Northern Star Resources, Mandalay Resources, Orica. These sponsors have allowed us to bring several events to the growing student body.

We kicked off the year with our OGM to introduce our new committee of seven. We've worked together to bring a Student Meets Industry night where students learned and connected with industry representatives. Through the semester, different student regularly attend the bi-monthly Melbourne Mining Club luncheons through tickets generously provided to the chapter through Gekko Systems.

Semester 2's events will include a bigger and better SMI night to attract students from different universities across Melbourne. This will be supplemented by several BBQs across different universities.

We're also excited to be organising two site visits to mine sites in Victoria. Our committee will join other students across Australia in the two-day New Leaders Summit in Adelaide in September.

Our year will close off with an AGM to elect the new committee for 2024. We look forward to seeing you at our events!
