Major event 2026 - Mine Health and Safety Conference 2026

The Mine Health and Safety Conference #MHS2026 will return in October 2026, hosted by the AusIMM and WA Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) and is being actively led and supported by the Health and Safety Society.

We are particularly excited to advise that the Jim Torlach Award for AusIMM members who have promoted Safety in our industry will be announced at the conference (so they, quite rightly, will be lauded twice – at the conference and again at Congress!).

This Conference is our Society’s flagship event and we are aiming for a strong practitioner-led program.

Call for papers has just been released will be in an email to the Society members this week – and we encourage every practitioner, superintendent, supervisor, engineer, manager and consultant in our network to consider submitting a case study or practical experience piece.

Theme Streams:

  • Leadership, Risk Management and Management Systems
  • Safe and Productive People
  • Fit-for-Purpose Equipment and Technologies
  • Safety in the Physical Environment (with emphasis on Safety-in-Design)

We are seeking real-world lessons, not just polished success stories. Find out more and submit your abstract here

Webinars

Throughout the year we have laid the groundwork for a set of structured webinar sessions. Invitations, speaker involvement, and partnering arrangements are now well advanced.

More information will be released early in the new year.

How you can get involved in 2026

We are actively looking for more member engagement in:

  • Sub-committee working groups
  • Fireside Chat guest nominations
  • Webinar development
  • IMSHC paper submissions and session chairs
  • Local networking and knowledge-sharing initiatives

If you would like to participate directly, even lightly, please email hssoc@ausimm.com.au

Every contribution helps strengthen the community and improve the health and safety outcomes across our industry.
