Hunter Region Branch Chair Update August 2023

ยท 348 words, 2 min read

Dear Hunter Region Branch members,

As you can see from the summaries in this newsletter, the last two months have been busy in our Branch.
From the JORC seminar in early June, through to our Armidale visit in early August, I have had the pleasure of interacting with a number of members and students. Our President’s Dinner at which we also presented members of 40 and 50 years’ standing with their certificates and pins was a highlight, to which President Nicole Brook’s thoughtful speech contributed significantly.

Pleasingly, the student cohort continues to grow. Welcome to all new members and as always, there is a standing invitation for you to contact the Committee and send us your thoughts and ideas at hunter@ausimm.com.au.

Two further events remain for the year: the Jameson Distinguished Lecture in Newcastle on 19 October, and the Committee’s planning day on 21 October.

Kind regards,
Hennie du Plooy
Chair, AusIMM Hunter Region Branch
