Hunter Region Branch: Message from the Chair - August 2026
Dear Members,
We’ve been very busy organising a packed programme for members for the second half of 2026. Where has the first half gone? It seems to have flown by.
We had a very successful event in Singleton in July. Huge thanks to Groundsearch for sponsoring an outstanding technical session and special thanks to Harvey Geotech for the presentation.
The Technical calendar remains packed with upcoming events including our featured JORC seminar on 19 August in Singleton. Please make sure you attend if you estimate, or plan to estimate, resources or reserves now and into the future. We have a packed programme on the day with many esteemed presenters including Georgina Rees, member of the JORC committee.
Our Jameson Lecture will be presented on 15 October by Paul Revell. Please pop the date into your diaries.
If you have any interest in joining our committee, we are always happy to accommodate additional members who wish to volunteer their time. In principle, it involves very little time; a monthly meeting of around one hour (usually on-line), attendance of events and perhaps some organisation of one of our events. We’d love to have you on board. In the interest of diversity, we would particularly like to hear from metallurgists/process engineers, geologists and women. Send me an email if you’re interested.
Finally, we would like to extend a warm welcome to any of our new members. We hope to see you and all members at an AusIMM event sometime soon.
Thank you,
Tim Baitch
