Hunter Student Branch Update

· 120 words, 1 min read

The Hunter Student Chapter has been very active recently.

Several students undertook a technical visit to the Newcastle Institute for Energy & Resources (NIER), formerly known as the BHP Central Research Laboratories at Shortland and now part of the University of Newcastle campus. Important mining‑related research is carried out at this facility.

A number of students also attended the Minerals Council Early Careers Night, as well as the AusIMM International Women’s Day lunch.

Three technical site tours are currently in the planning stage, with student teams also set to attend the New Leaders Summit and the APAC Mining Games in Brisbane in September. A UNE field trip to Newcastle is planned, and a Quick Fire Night is scheduled for July.
