Note from the outgoing Consultants Society Chair – November 2023

Rewarding is the main theme that springs to mind when I reflect on my re-engagement with AusIMM via my involvement with ConSoc over the past 3 years.

I was ready to step away from ConSoc and as is the way in committees, I was encouraged to stay on as Chair.

For me, ConSoc was the vehicle for me to work with a like-minded and diverse group of people and hopefully make a difference in the area of Study Processes, culminating in the Study Process course and collation of the impending handbook. Becoming Chair was one of those “what have I got myself in for?” moments, but working with an invested Committee and an incredibly supportive AusIMM Management Team (AMT) made it a very easy and enjoyable task. It also provided an opportunity to work with and better understand the workings and objectives of AusIMM. There is much that happens and needs members to contribute to that people don’t see that leads to improvements in our industry.

The AusIMM continues to evolve, along with our Industry, as it progresses its strategy and I encourage you to seek that out on the AusIMM website. If there is something you are passionate about this may be the place for you – see Our Advocacy Framework and priorities. 

I encourage all members to look for opportunities to get involved in what you are passionate about, be it education, training, mentoring, policy or advocacy. The Societies provide a different opportunity for engagement to Branch activities, so please consider being involved and making a difference.   

Thank you to all Committee and AMT members that I have had the pleasure to work with. My involvement continues to be rewarding and most importantly fun.
