· 300 words, 1 min read

Next course commences on 23 September 2024

The Study Processes for Resource Projects Course is a Consultants Society initiative with the original course developed by a subset of the committee during 2020-21.

The course has been presented twice a year since 2022 and consists of four 90-minute webinars that examine the requirements to ensure technical discipline and risk are managed at the appropriate stages of the Study Process (Scope to Feasibility) to prepare transparent business cases.

In creating a consistent roadmap for preparing and evaluating projects, the course provides a framework for ensuring the right tasks are pursued at the right time, and the steps needed to present information in a compelling way.  The course provides participants with the tools required to inform decision making to advance studies at key project milestones and support evaluation.

The course shares the stages in a project development study process – from scoping through to front-end engineering and design. By following this structured process, course participants can ensure a standardised approach is applied across resource projects.

During 2023 the Consultants Society commenced work on a handbook to sit alongside the course and includes further information from relevant subject matter experts. It is anticipated the handbook will be completed during 2024.
