Student journal - Sydney Student Chapter - 2023 Student Meets Industry Recap
The Sydney Student Chapter holds a Student Meets Industry night every year. The 2023 Student Meets Industry night was held on the 2nd of March at UNSW.
What was your favourite part of the event?
We have come across many positive feedback from students regarding the event, whereby students are able to build connections with industry experts as well as gain insights to career opportunities. It was an excellent way for students to make connections with their peers and those already working in the industry.
Students are also given the chance to learn about a variety of graduate or vacation programs offered by different mineral and resources companies across Australia.
This year, the AusIMM Sydney Student Chapter is extremely fortunate to have our sponsors. What is your favourite part of being an AusIMM member?
Being a student member of AusIMM, has enabled various opportunities to learn about the mining industry, meet people of the industry and attend numerous events. In particular, the monthly tech talk is a great opportunity to network with many professionals.
In addition to that, some students this year had the wonderful opportunity to attend the AusIMM International Women’s Day lunch in Sydney, which was a great success. There were numerous inspiring people present that day. We were impressed by the keynote speaker, Virginia Harussegger’s speech on her experiences and gender equality, as an award-winning journalist and gender equity advocate.
There will be more events going forward in the year with both the AusIMM Sydney branch and the AusIMM Sydney Student Chapter. We look forward to seeing you in our future events!
