The AusIMM and EIANZ have come together to offer financial support under a Social and Environment Student Award that has been co-sponsored by BHP.

Given the common goal of improving environmental and community standards within professional practice through ongoing professional development, the purpose of the award is to provide financial support to students interested in pursuing a career in the environment and/or community disciplines within the resources industry. The award is intended to support costs associated with completion of an Honours, Masters or PhD research project, or equivalent. Further information on the background of the Award is available here.

To be eligible to nominate for the award, students must be currently enrolled and planning to undertake an accepted Honours, Masters or PhD research topic with an environment or community focus within the resources industry. The award is valued at up to $3000 and can be used to offset financial expenses incurred while undertaking the research project.

To be considered for the award, students will be required to complete an application form and email a copy to cesoc@ausimm.com.au.

The Award rules and Application Guidance are available here.

Applications for the 2021 Award closed on the 31st March 2021. Applications for the 2022 Award will open in late 2021.

A panel of minerals industry environment and community professionals from AusIMM, and EIANZ will review the applications and announce the successful annual award recipient.
