AusIMM will deliver an Australian Mining Showcase in Chile and Peru from 2–12 June, strengthening international collaboration and showcasing Australian resources capability, expertise and leadership across two of the world’s leading mining jurisdictions.

The Showcase will bring together senior industry leaders, technical experts and strategic partners for a program of high-level engagement spanning government, industry and education. Activities will include AusIMM member networking events in Santiago and Lima, a Future Mining Trends Forum delivered with Austrade, and participation at Exponor 2026 in Antofagasta – one of the world’s premier mining exhibitions.

Led by AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin, the delegation will highlight AusIMM’s global leadership in upholding professional standards and advancing technical capability through delivering world-class professional development, while strengthening relationships with industry and government across Latin America.

The program reflects the growing strategic importance of collaboration between Australia and Latin America as the global resources sector responds to rising demand for critical minerals, accelerating technological change and heightened expectations around sustainability and social performance.

The AusIMM and Austrade Future Mining Trends Forum will examine the major forces reshaping the global mining sector and feature an address from Australia’s Ambassador to Chile, His Excellency Andrew Martin. An expert discussion will follow on geopolitical disruption, workforce capability, digital transformation and the future competitiveness of mining.

AusIMM will also co-host an invitation-only CEO Roundtable with global consultancy Accenture, convening senior leaders for discussions on how organisations are adapting their strategic decision-making in an increasingly uncertain global environment.

At Exponor 2026, Mr Durkin will deliver a keynote address opening the “Critical Minerals: Global Chains and Opportunities” session. The keynote will frame discussions on the future of global critical minerals supply chains, the role of trusted international partnerships in addressing skills gaps, and supporting long-term supply security and economic growth.

AusIMM has also announced the expansion of its online course portfolio into Spanish, responding to growing demand across Latin America for globally recognised technical training. In addition to its existing tailings management course, new Spanish-language offerings will cover ESG and social responsibility, water management and underground mining.

AusIMM’s commitment to professional development and engaging the next generation of resources professionals is also on display through the launch of a new scholarship program, providing students and mining professionals across Chile with access to a selection of AusIMM’s online technical courses.

Mr Durkin said the Showcase demonstrates a commitment to strengthen global mining capability and advance long-term sector leadership.

“Our presence here is very much aligned to advancing our shared national interests. Mining is central to the economic prosperity and global standing of our nations. Across Australia and Latin America, our sector is navigating a global energy transition, profound digital transformation and growing geopolitical complexity. The need for trusted expertise, strong professional standards and international collaboration has never been more important,” Mr Durkin said.

“This Showcase is an opportunity to represent Australian mining on the world stage, strengthen strategic relationships, and showcase our members – whether based in Australia or Latin America – as being the best in the world at what they do.”

The Showcase is supported by AusIMM International Partner Accenture, Signature Partners Byrnecut, Fleet Space Technologies, Sandvik and Sedgman; and Austrade.
