GEM '97 is Papua New Guinea's triennial geology and mining conference and the highlight of The AusIMM's activities in the country. The program included updates on the geology of Papua New Guinea and papers on developments at all of the major projects and also papers covering legal economic and environmental issues. Additionally one section of the conference covered a review of exploration in Papua New Guinea.
