Building resilient operations through digital system integration – the Snowy River Mine case study
The Snowy River Mine (SRM), operated by Endura Mining in Reefton, New Zealand, is transitioning from construction to gold production through 2026. The local workforce will grow to around 250 and includes personnel new to underground mining. This case study describes the Operationally Integrated Systems (OIS) approach SRM is implementing so leaders and crews make consistent, well-informed decisions in task planning and execution, generating structured, contextual and trustworthy data — resilience treated operationally, designed into how work is planned and executed. Work began in Q1 2026 on the risk and control foundations and continues through Q3 with development of a digital risk and control monitoring capability. Two simple questions drive the approach: ‘What information and support do frontline staff need to make reliably good decisions?’ ‘How do we detect and correct performance drift before something goes wrong?’
