The influx of an industrial environment into or adjacent to the indigenous society has in the past frequently caused the breakdown of traditional be- haviour and culture, and the generation of social and psychological impacts on the local population._x000D_
Successful programmes developed by government agencies and private industry have been implemented in many areas to maintain the cultural environment and still afford the needs for industrial development._x000D_
The ultimate goal of such programmes should be directed toward eventual operation and management of the established industry by the local population.
