The incentive to improve wear resistant materials performance is examined with respect to plant availability and recent trends in the labour force. Standard practice at Isa Mine Concentrat- ors in countering the effects of abrasive and corrosive wear is discussed with emphasis on results with more exotic materials such as ceramics and the Cr-Ni-Mo white irons.
