Designed for one life, engineered for the next – extending the safety, capability and economic value of ageing mill relining equipment
Mill relining machines are long-life capital assets that can remain in operation beyond the intended service intervals or support life of their original mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control-system components. As operating hours, load cycles and environmental exposure accumulate, the probability of component wear, structural fatigue, hydraulic degradation, control-system obsolescence and failure of unsupported safety-critical components increases. Continued operation requires more than routine maintenance. It requires an engineering assessment of asset condition, residual risk and capability for the next defined period of service. A risk-based, total cost of ownership approach integrates equipment utilisation and service history, site inspection, non-destructive testing of primary structures and major fabrications, hydraulicsystem assessment, original equipment manufacturer replacement guidance, current safety requirements and the site’s future operating mine-life. These inputs establish a revised condition baseline, identify degradation mechanisms and rank interventions according to safety, reliability, supportability, and operational consequence.
