High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) technology continues to gain momentum in comminution circuits due to its established high energy efficiency, reduced operating costs and reduced emissions. However, recent implementations by ‘new-to-HPGR’ mining companies have revealed significant learning curves. These challenges often stem not from the HPGR units themselves, but from broader flow sheet and operational integration issues. While the success of HPGR circuit rampup and operation is multi-faceted, this paper focuses on operational readiness considerations for commissioning and operations teams, aimed at maximising ramp-up efficacy and ongoing operability.
