The third instalment in the Mine Waste and Tailings conference series was held in Brisbane in July 2021. This conference series aims to be the benchmark for sharing knowledge and experience on mine waste and tailings management, sustainable practice and closure, in Australia and the rest of the world. The two-day conference was built around the following nine themes: Testing and Selection of Design Parameters for Tailings; Licence to operate, Governance and Standards; Mine Waste Characterisation; Operational Aspects and Case Histories; Innovative Mine Waste Management; Tailings Dewatering and Placement; Tailings Liquefaction and Seismic Response; Breach and Runout Assessment; Monitoring, Surveillance, Emergency Response; Water and AMD Management and Closure; and Tailings Dam Analysis and Performance.
